just like your computer or smartphone, websites need to be updated & upgraded too.

website software is constantly being updated to make it more secure, faster and more visible to search engines. When the software is updated then your website needs to be upgraded to the latest version.

when we look after your website we keep it updated, upgraded, visible & make sure it's running smoothly and safely for your audience. No contract or commitment — just peace of mind.

you can do this yourself - or stay sane while we handle it all for you!

your options...

1

don’t do anything – no backups, no upgrades, and no security.  This option is similar to never changing the oil, tires or belts on your vehicle.  You have a higher chance of something breaking, and it will cost much more to fix it.

2

educate yourself – maintain the website on your own.  Backup, upgrade, and secure your site regularly. Know what tools to use, how to restore your site from a backup, how to fix broken code, and how to configure proper security, etc.

3

hire someone – complete backups, all necessary upgrades, and security.  A professional can quickly set up your website with the required settings, as well as keep your site up-to-date for full functionality and protection against known security threats.

you wouldn't leave your business premise's security to chance ... so don't do it with your website

The Details?

Maintenance is important.

WordPress requires monitoring, security updates, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the integrity of a website’s content and databases. When regularly maintained, developers have a better chance of diagnosing any issues that might arise, and can more rapidly correct them.

Unfortunately, over the past few years, we have seen many unmaintained WordPress sites fail, causing huge headaches and necessitating large costs to assess, recover, and fix. When done right, maintenance simply goes unnoticed — and that’s the way it should be!

All of our plans are rock solid.

Each plan includes a “we break it, we fix it” policy!

But they don’t cover the world.

Our plans do not include:

  • IT support for email management, technology infrastructure, or non-Manoverboard hosting
  • Support for third-party services (e.g. MailChimp, Salsa, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Content creation (e.g. copywriting, illustration, video production)
  • Digital strategy, UX consulting or search engine optimization

Site performance is key.

Every calendar year, clients on plan two and three will receive a report outlining suggested upgrades in four categories: problems with SEO, coding best practices, and performance and accessibility recommendations. All suggested upgrades will, at your request, be performed at no additional cost.

Typical findings for sites that are about a year old include addressing accessibility issues or opportunities to optimize the code base. This is due to how quickly the internet evolves and changes over time. For sites more than a few years old, we have seen performance fixes reducing load times by more than eight seconds!

What is “Support Time”?

All of our plans include support time which includes:

  • General content updates (e.g. copy changes, image editing) within the WordPress interface. Content to be provided by you.
  • Design updates.  Content, images etc to be provided by you.
  • Overall advice with all things WordPress
  • Assistance with the WordPress interface and existing features/functions
  • Newsletter curation (est. 60 min). Content to be provided by you.

Note: This support time does not include any items listed below or any additional deliverables. In other words, this tier of support only covers content and WordPress guidance and not code, development or troubleshooting. (If technical support is needed while you are on the Basic plan, we can create an estimate for you on a case-by-case basis.)

Not included:

  • custom development (PHP,
  • plugins, themes, etc),
  • updating custom code,
  • graphic design,
  • PSD to WordPress
  • or building out a new website or subdomain.

Want to DIY?

It is possible to maintain your own website and run into zero problems along the way… but that, unfortunately, rarely happens. WordPress and plug-in updates can cause errors and conflicts that will break the way your site displays or functions, which can be disastrous.

Getting around to doing your own website maintenance is no small task, either. Most of the time it never gets to the top of the to-do list before a site has gotten out of hand and become a huge headache.
